Builder Drawing Checklist for Energy Modelling
Send a coordinated drawing set and the project information that controls the required permit-stage energy model and pre-construction report.

Permit modelling only moves as fast as the drawing set is coordinated. If the architectural, structural, window, or mechanical information conflicts, tell me which revision controls before I build the model.
Send the floor plans, sections, elevations, window and door schedule, assemblies, and mechanical notes. Include the project address, municipality, target permit date, and current building-department instructions. Missing something? Send what you have and I will identify the gap.
This checklist is a coordination aid, not a municipal submission checklist. Confirm the required drawings, forms, and report format with the building department for the project address.

Show what is being modelled.
- Site plan with north arrow and building orientation
- Dimensioned floor plans for every level
- Building elevations with grades and exterior openings
- Sections showing floor, wall, roof, and foundation relationships
- Conditioned-floor-area and ceiling-height information where it is not clear on the plans
Define the assemblies and openings.
- Wall, roof, floor, slab, and foundation insulation values
- Continuous-insulation and thermal-bridge details
- Window and exterior-door schedule with sizes and performance values when available
- Skylights, overhead doors, attic hatches, and other exterior openings
- Air-barrier location and continuity at transitions and penetrations
Share the systems that affect the model.
- Proposed heating and cooling systems and fuel types
- Domestic hot-water equipment and location
- Ventilation approach and available equipment information
- Fireplaces, secondary systems, or suites that affect the Step Code file
- F280 or TECA forms requested by the building department
Resolve the coordination questions.
- Confirm the latest drawing revision
- Identify substitutions already under consideration
- Answer missing window, assembly, and mechanical inputs
- Confirm the required Energy Step Code or Zero Carbon Step Code level
- Send municipal comments that change the model or report
