Naramata is in Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Electoral Area E. Send any RDOS building, planning, or inspection instructions with the drawings. I use that project information to define the modelling, reporting, mechanical, and testing scope before work starts. RDOS does not require a mid-construction blower-door test; RDOS previously offered a grant of up to $400 toward the cost but stopped accepting new applications after June 27, 2023. I still recommend testing before drywall so leaks can be found and sealed while they are accessible.

My Naramata work follows three stages: Pre-Construction Energy Modelling and Reporting, Mid Construction Blower Door Testing, and Final As-Built Blower Door Testing and Reporting. The mid-construction visit gives the crew time to find and seal leaks, learn from the problem areas, and check progress toward the final target. A CSA F280 block-load heat-loss and heat-gain calculation is included at no additional charge with every pre-construction compliance package.

Send the drawing set or share link, Naramata address, current stage, target permit or inspection date, and RDOS comments already received. I serve Naramata and communities throughout the Okanagan.

Local requirements

RDOS lists Naramata in Electoral Area E for building inspection services. Send current RDOS instructions with the drawings because permit and inspection processes can change.

RDOS file

Keep the energy model tied to the active drawing set.

  • Include the site address and legal description if available
  • Send RDOS planning, permit, or inspection notes that affect the drawings
  • Identify glazing, assemblies, and mechanical systems that are still being selected
  • Update me when the approved design changes during construction
Site timing

Test while the air barrier is accessible.

  • Book the mid-construction blower door test (pre-drywall test) before finishes cover the primary air barrier
  • Share access instructions and the site contact before the visit
  • Have sealing materials and a site lead available when practical
  • Request final testing only after the envelope can be tested as completed
